Worth knowing
When six seats is the right call
-
The family and entertaining size
Six person tubs are the family and entertaining size. If you have teenagers, or people up to the cottage regularly, this is the size that stops the tub being a two person amenity everyone takes turns at.
-
Seats that feel different
The practical difference is not just seat count. Six person shells are wide enough to have genuinely different seats: a lounger, a couple of deeper bucket seats, a cool down seat at a higher level. That variety is what makes a tub get used every day rather than occasionally.
-
The costs are real
The costs are real and worth being straight about. A six person tub holds more water, so it costs more to heat and more to fill, and it usually needs a properly poured pad rather than a deck. It also needs a wider delivery path, which in cottage country sometimes means a crane.
-
Judge it by the busiest weekend
If you are weighing six against four, the question is not how many people will be in it on a normal Tuesday. It is how many will be in it on the busiest weekend of the summer, because that is the day the decision gets judged.
6 person hot tub questions
More than a four person tub, but less than people expect, because a well insulated tub spends most of its energy holding temperature rather than reheating. Insulation quality affects the bill more than volume does.
In most cases yes, or an engineered alternative. Filled weight with people in it runs into the thousands of pounds. We look at the site before delivery, not on the day.
Yes, and in cottage country it is common. It adds cost and needs access for the truck, so it is worth establishing early rather than late.
Eight seat tubs are genuinely large and suit people who entertain in numbers. For most families, six is the size that gets used. Come and sit in both.
