Worth knowing
A four person tub is the point where a hot tub stops being just for you and starts being something you use with other people. Big enough that two couples can sit in it without anyone feeling crowded, small enough that it still fits a normal backyard and a normal electrical service.
Most four person models come in both a lounger and a bench layout. A lounger gives one person a full recline, which is the seat everyone competes for. A bench gives you four equal upright seats and more usable room. Neither is better; they suit different households, and sitting in both is the only way to know.
In terms of running cost, a four person tub in Muskoka is more about insulation than volume. Full foam costs more up front and less every month, and over fifteen winters that is not a close call.
On access, most four person shells run around 78 to 84 inches square. That fits through a standard double gate but not a single one, and it is worth measuring the tightest point of the path before you commit rather than on delivery day.
For most households, yes. The people who regret four seats are usually the ones who entertain often or have teenagers. If either is true, look at six.
A lounger gives one person a full recline and is the most sought after seat in any tub. A bench gives four equal seats and more room to move. If you mostly use it as a couple, the lounger tends to win. If you use it with company, the bench does.
Most need a dedicated 240V circuit, typically 50 amp, installed by a licensed electrician. A smaller number run plug and play on 120V. We will tell you which is which before you order.
Allow at least 18 inches on one side for service access to the equipment bay, plus a clear delivery path wide enough for the shell. The path matters more than the finished position, and it is the thing most often overlooked.
