Installation costs
Hot tub delivery and installation: what affects the cost
-
Access
Whether the tub fits down the path and through the gate, or comes over the fence by crane. In cottage country this is the biggest variable.
-
The base
A filled six person tub with people in it runs to several thousand pounds. Most need a poured pad; some decks need reinforcing first.
-
Electrical
Most tubs need a dedicated 240V circuit from a licensed electrician. How far it runs from your panel is the cost.
-
Your property
Slope, distance from the truck, trees, and the time of year.
Why prices differ
What makes one hot tub cost more than another
Two tubs the same size can be thousands apart, and it is almost never the shell.
Common questions
Most hot tubs we sell fall between $10,000 and $22,000 for the tub itself. Entry models start around $7,000 and the largest, most heavily jetted tubs reach the low thirties. Delivery, the base and the electrical are quoted separately because they depend entirely on your site.
Because the number on a tag is rarely the number you pay. Two identical tubs can differ by thousands once you account for getting it into the yard, the pad it sits on and the electrical run. We would rather show you an honest range and then quote your actual site than advertise a price that changes the moment we see your driveway.
Rarely the shell. The differences that move the price are insulation, the number and type of jets, the pump and control system, and whether the cabinet is built to survive fifteen Muskoka winters. Insulation in particular costs more up front and less every month.
It is quoted per site, and we will not guess before seeing it. The variables are the width of the access path, whether a crane is needed, what the tub will sit on, and how far the electrical has to run. We look at all four before giving you a number.
Sometimes. A poorly insulated tub costs less in June and considerably more in February, and over fifteen winters that gap is larger than the difference in purchase price. It is the one area where spending more is usually the cheaper decision here.
Ask us. It depends on the model and the time of year, so it is a conversation rather than a published rate.
