Who a two person hot tub suits

  • Narrow spaces, just the two of you

    A two person tub is the practical choice when the space is narrow, the deck has a load limit, or it is genuinely just the two of you. They heat faster, use less water and less chemical, and some run on a standard 120V plug rather than needing an electrician.

  • You lose the lounger

    The trade off is that you lose the lounger in most two person layouts, and you lose the option of having anyone else in it. If you think you will ever want a third person in there, look at the four person sizes instead. Buying too small is a more common regret than buying too big.

  • It fits where others will not

    In cottage country the other consideration is access. A smaller shell is the one that fits down a path, around a corner, or through a gate without a crane. If your site is awkward, this is where to start.

2 person hot tub questions

Some can. Plug and play models run on a standard 120V outlet, which means no electrician and no permit. They heat more slowly than a 240V tub, which matters more in February than in July.

Less than a larger tub, because there is less water to hold at temperature. The bigger factor is insulation rather than size. A well insulated small tub costs less to run through a Muskoka winter than a poorly insulated one of any size.

Often, but check the load rating first. Filled weight matters more than dry weight, and a filled tub with two people in it is heavier than many decks are built for without reinforcement. We will look at it with you before you buy.
